About Surge & Impulse Test Testing Services

CTL has Surge Test Facility upto 10KVA Impulse Test Facility having different wave shapes like 1250 s 10700 s etc These tests are covered under the following Indian and International standards IS 616 IEC 60065 IS 13252 IEC 60950 IS 302 etc

To represent surges generated due to lightning the IEC Standard impulse wave of 1250 s wave is generally used By the use of spark gaps conditions occurring on the flash over to line are simulated The total duration of a single lightning strike os about 100 s although the total duration of the lightning stroke may be a few seconds

These tests relate to the immunity requirements for equipment to unidirectional surges caused by over voltages from switching and lightning transients Several test levels are defined which relate to different environment and installation conditions These requirements are developed for and are applicable to electrical and electronic equipment

Standards-Compliant Testing

Our surge and impulse test services rigorously comply with IEC 60060, IEC 60076, and IS 2026 standards, ensuring your equipment meets global benchmarks. The process incorporates digitally controlled test cycles and employs precision sensors to evaluate robustness, providing confidence in product performance and safety before deployment.

Flexible Testing Methods

We offer both onsite and laboratory-based testing options across India, allowing you to select the most suitable approach for your requirements. Our state-of-the-art equipment handles various sizes and types of components, adapting to your specific applicationbe it for transformers, cables, or complex insulation systems.

Comprehensive Reporting & Data Management

Post-test, you receive in-depth digital and hardcopy certifications, traceable to NABL-accredited labs. All test data is stored internally and can be exported via USB, ensuring streamlined documentation and easy integration with your quality assurance systems.

Safety and Accuracy Assured

Safety is paramount in our testing methodology. Emergency stop, overvoltage, and leakage protection features are integrated into every session. Accurate measurements (1% full scale) are reinforced by annual calibration, ensuring reliable results every time.

FAQs of Surge & Impulse Test Testing Services:

Q: How are surge and impulse tests conducted for electrical equipment?

A: Surge and impulse tests are performed using electronically controlled test equipment that subjects componentssuch as transformers and cablesto high-voltage impulses. These tests follow IEC/IS standards, with programmable test cycles, precision sensors, and data acquisition systems ensuring comprehensive evaluation of withstand capabilities.

Q: What standards do your testing services comply with?

A: Our testing services strictly adhere to IEC 60060, IEC 60076, and IS 2026 standards. These guarantee that your equipment is tested under recognized and accepted guidelines, ensuring reliability, compatibility, and global acceptance.

Q: When and where can I access these testing services?

A: Testing services are available by appointment throughout India. We provide both onsite testing at your facility and laboratory-based testing at our accredited locations, offering flexible scheduling to meet your project timelines.

Q: What does your testing process include from start to finish?

A: The process begins with consultation to understand your component and testing needs. Test cycles are then programmed according to standard requirements. Safety checks are carried out, tests are performed, data is collected, and comprehensive digital/hardcopy reports are issuedcomplete with calibration traceability.

Q: Who benefits from surge and impulse test services?

A: Manufacturers, quality assurance teams, and operators of electrical infrastructure such as transformers, cables, switchgear, and motor windings benefit by ensuring their equipments ability to withstand high-voltage surges, safeguarding operational reliability and reducing long-term failure risks.

Q: How is test data managed and reported?

A: Test results are automatically stored in the equipments internal memory and can be exported via USB. Reports are generated in digital and hardcopy formats, meeting traceability and compliance requirements for auditing and certification.

Q: What safety mechanisms are in place during testing?

A: Our test equipment is equipped with integrated emergency stop, overvoltage, and leakage protection. Operator interfaces are user-friendly, and all sessions are conducted in controlled conditions to ensure maximum safety for personnel and assets.
